Still Life in Oils: From Start to Finish

Every artist needs to know how to finish a painting. In this session, we will work on one or two long studies from conception, design, preliminary sketches to finish. Intermediate Landscape Painting with Susan B. Charles

With the weather finally turning warmer, we will be painting outdoors as much as possible. April greens, pink buds and aqua skiescthe spring brings a new palette. Plein air painting sharpens the senses and improves your ability to see color. Alla prima painting, completing a painting all in one session, teaches you to paint with conviction. Locations include Worldfs End, Damonfs Point, Union Street Bridge, Rexhame Beach, and the Driftway marshes. Artists may work in any style or medium and are encouraged to try new methods. We will paint indoors when the weather is below 45 degrees or is rainy or windy. Otherwise, please dress for cold weather (down jackets, snow pants, insulated boots & hats) as standing in cool weather can be colder than you think. Previous drawing or painting experience is required. Last class is a constructive class critique.

This is primarily a beginning still-life class, but all levels are welcome. We will work in a simplified, controlled setting to learn the skills necessary to begin and complete a drawing and/or painting. Instruction will be provided to all students in order to build skills and use the correct tools to consistently create successful projects. We will work primarily in oil from a still-life. A supply list will be provided upon registration - bring charcoal and a sketch book. Join others in a friendly, non-competitive environment.

This course is designed to help the beginner gain the confidence to draw what you see. Learn to think, see and feel like an artist in this comprehensive approach to developing skills as a fine artist. Students are taught using a variety of exercises designed to tap into the part of the brain that speaks in a visual language. Wefll start will the basics of line, shading, posture, materials and attitude in this relaxed and understandable approach to learning. Instructor will field questions to fine tune the class to your needs. This is a great class for the novice student who wishes to get serious about - or just get started with - their art. Bring a sketch pad and drawing utensils to first class. Additional materials will be discussed at that time.
Beginning/Intermediate Watercolor

Designed for all levels of the watercolorist, this popular course will first provide the necessary fundamentals and then explore the many techniques of watercolor.
