About Juror Dan Thompson:
Dan Thompson has received numerous awards, including Grand Prize for Best of Show in the American Society of Portrait Artist’s International Portrait Competi tion at theMetropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Erlebacher Award from the New York Academy of Art, the Ethel Lorraine Bernstein Memorial Award for Excellence in Painting from the Corcoran College of Art and Design and the Elizabeth GreenshieldsFoundation Grant. He has been designated a Living Master by the Art Renewal Center.
In 2008, Dan Thompson co-founded the Janus Collaborative School of Art in New York, NY. Mr. Thompson also teaches regularly in the MFA program of the New York Academy of Art, Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, PA and through workshops in the greater United States and Canada. In 2011, he created two instructional DVDs for American Artist Magazine, entitled: Figure Drawing I: Anatomy of the Head; and Figure Drawing II: The Gesture. His artwork has been included in recent texts from Abrams, Sterling and Watson- Guptill Publications.
Dan Thompson’s work has been exhibited in public and private collections throughout the world, including the Elea- nor Ettinger Gallery, John Pence Gallery, Arcadia Gallery, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, The Pasadena Museum of California Art, the National Arts Club in New York, the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. and The World Art Museum in Beijing.
