Summer ArtVentures Camp, Week 1 "Up, Up, and Create"(July 6-10) (Monday, July 06, 2026)

North River Arts Society is thrilled to announce our Summer Art Camp, running for four exciting weeks in 2026 for children entering grades 1-4.

Throughout each week of the camp, young artists will embark on a journey of imagination as they explore captivating themes! This week: Up, Up, and Create! This is a fun-filled art class where young imaginations take flight! Kids will explore flying wonders-from buzzing insects to colorful hot air balloons. We will paint, draw and sculpt, as little artists let their ideas soar!

Throughout each week of the camp, young artists will embark on a journey of imagination as they explore captivating themes! This week: Artful Animals! In this playful art class, kids will explore the animal world. Children will draw, paint , and build a variety of creatures- from furry pets to wild jungle creatures. Each day encourages imagination and hands-on exploration as artists bring their favorite animals to life.

This is an invitation to explore the sights and sounds of the jungle through art! Kids will create colorful parrots, patterned frogs, and leafy rainforest scenes using paint, collage, drawing, and imagination!

This will be a bright and cheerful summer art class where creativity shines.! Kids will explore sunny things like beaches, flowers, and summer fun through drawing, painting and hands-on activities. Each project encourages imagination and playful expression as artists create colorful work inspired by the joy of summer.

Intro to Sewing with Olivia Harvey (Tuesday, September 08, 2026)

In this 6-week class, students will learn the basics of clothing construction, from threading and using their sewing machines to reading patterns and sewing garments from start to finish. This class is perfect for those who are complete beginners or have a few simple sewing projects under their belts and would like to learn more. Prior students are also welcome!

This class is open to adults and high school students, please contact the office with any questions at northriverarts@gmail.com.

Materials List:

Sewing machine (North River will have a few machines for students to share if you do not have your own machine.)
Fabric scissors

Soft measuring tape

After students learn the basics, they will be asked to purchase a simple pattern and fabric for a project

Olivia Harvey is an avid sewist and upcycler who first learned how to sew as a kid right here at NRAS with Brooke Stanton — and she hasn’t stopped since! Along with making and embellishing her own clothes, Olivia also sells her upcycled creations through her online shop OHpleeze. She believes that everyone should learn how to sew because it makes life (and your closet) a lot more interesting!
