During this 10-week session, students in grades K-5 will enrich their artistic expressions in a fun and nurturing environment where children feel comfortable expressing their unique talents to create works of art. Students will work with a wide variety of media including drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and more. Art from the world's varied cultures and the contributions of major artists will serve as inspiration.
Students will be split into two groups, grades K-2 and 3-5. Each grade level group will be limited to 15 students. Each Wednesday afternoon, each group will attend two 70-minute classes taught by experienced art teachers. A quick snack break will take place in between classes (Snacks provided by parents). Materials will be provided by NRAS. Additionally, NRAS will follow the Marshfield school calendar and all local, and state Covid guidelines will be observed.
Sue Casey, I have been an art teacher in Attleboro Public Schools for over 31 years. I recently retired in June after moving to the south shore. I love to paddle board, golf, draw and paint. Any type of art inspires me but watching children explore and be creative is most rewarding.
Mike DiRado, I recently retired after a 28-year teaching career in the Abington Public Schools. During my career I taught visual art at all grade levels, but primarily focused on middle school grades. Additionally, I served as the Department chair for 8 years. In my retirement I plan to continue with my artistic passions, paintings and mosaics. My wife, greyhound and I live in Scituate.
