Pastel is an excellent medium for creating contrast and making bold statements with their vibrant color. The use of pastels and their interest among artists and manufacturers has increased in the past years. Many new products such as supports and a wider range of colors are being produced for our needs. These beautiful, pure pigment sticks are being used to create paintings that are recognized by major museums and galleries throughout the world. Their popularity is growing, and that is an exciting thing!

When a painter sets out to paint, the intent is to create a desirable final piece. Keeping the design and color harmony simple will be the approach we will take in these sessions.

The constants that are the basics for any painting; composition, value recognition, and movement will be discussed and practiced. Doing studies and evaluating the elements that are important to the design of the painting will also be exercised.
