Creating Dreamscapes through Collaging 1-Day Workshop with Lindsey Boss

In this workshop, we will create dreamy landscapes by cutting and combining imagery from different sources. The process of searching through material for images that speak to you is encouraged to be just as much fun as making the end creation. I like to refer to them as Dreamscapes because they do not need to make literal sense, and can be mysterious! I will share some of my favorite cutting techniques and collage “secrets.”

Artist Bio: Since graduating from Mass College of Art in 2008, Lindsey has been consistently making analog collages with vintage books and magazines, which she avidly collects. The hunt for imagery, primarily from the 50s-80s, is a huge part of the process. The collages are a way of making sense of her own life experiences, but the goal is to evoke a wide range of feelings and reassurance within the viewer, as they make sense of their own experiences. Over the past 10 years, Lindsey has been showing her work in and around the Boston area, and has done some album art. She is happy to be bringing more of it into the beautiful South Shore.

Materials List: I ask that the participants bring a preferred pair of scissors and at least one image they’d like to use. I encourage bringing as much material as they'd like, but not required as I will be bringing books, magazines and scraps. If they choose to bring material, magazines and books with photographs of any kind, that they are okay with cutting from are best. National Geographic’s are an amazing source as they have amazing colors and paper texture. I recommend Saver’s for old books if they wish to search beforehand!
