So many colors to choose from! Have some fun mixing paint and learning strategies to help you work faster and with more intention. Learning to control your colors with a better understanding of the color wheel can be very helpful.

Explore the elements of color: value, saturation, and hue. Students will mix a 12 part color wheel from a primary triad, and use the resulting colors in 4 harmonic schemes; complementary, triadic, split complement, and analogous.

Margaret McWethy, Impressionist painter, studied art history and biology at Swarthmore College. Since graduating she has sought teachers who base their art on training, careful observation, and understanding. Margaret, a native of Maryland, now lives and paints in Massachusetts. Since moving here, she has spent time studying the mechanics of painting. "I have never really left my science background behind. I am always interested in how things work. And, more importantly, how to convey this information most effectively to students. My classes are a series of experiments and my students willing participants." She hopes to compile her findings and methods into a book. She teaches the Impressionist still life and landscape painting on the Cape and South Shore. She has won a number of awards and is a featured artist in Lois Griffel's Painting the Impressionist Landscape, Susan Sarbeck's Capturing Radiant Color in Oils, and Lee Boynton'Painting the Impressionist Watercolor. She is a charter member of the New England Plein Air Painters. Her work hangs in private and public collections in the United States, Europe and Canada.
