Eligibility:

• Artwork must be originally conceived and drawn and the artist’s original work from conception through execution. The artwork must not be a copy or likeness of another’s work, or derived from a published painting, drawing, photograph, digital image, or print.
  

• Artwork must be two-dimensional.

• Artwork, including frame, must not exceed 40” in neither width nor height.

• There is no requirement for year of artwork creation.
  

• Artwork that has appeared in a previous NRAS exhibition can be entered. Artwork that has previously won an award, may be entered. Artwork exhibited in this exhibit may be entered in future NRAS exhibits.

• Artwork completed in a classroom or workshop is ineligible.

• Members whose artwork was on posters prior to 2018, may apply. Members whose work appeared on the last 5 posters (years, 2019, 2020, 2023, 2024, 2025) are ineligible

• Artists can submit up to 5 pieces. Up to 2 may be chosen for exhibit in the GAR Hall and in the online exhibit on NRAS website.

All forms of artwork are allowed. Artwork may be sold through this exhibit, with a 30% commission to NRAS. 

NRAS reserves the right to reject work deemed unsuitable or that does not meet entry criteria. Prints (reproduced from original artwork) are not acceptable.

Ownership of artwork submitted for the poster competition will remain with the artist. North River Arts Society reserves the right to reproduce and publish the artwork chosen for the Festival poster.

Awards:

• Festival of the Arts Poster Award Artwork will be featured on the 2025 Festival of the Arts poster, $500 cash award and framed poster both sponsored by The Frame Center of Hanover, plus a ribbon.

• NRAS Awards of Excellence (2) Award certificate for framing sponsored by The Frame Center of Hanover (value $200) plus ribbon.

The winning artworks will be chosen by the North River Arts Society’s Arts Committee.

Important Dates:

• Entry Deadline – February 2, 2025, Midnight
• Hand deliver artwork to GAR Hall on Saturday, February 21 (10-12pm) or Monday, February 23 (5-7pm).
• Opening Reception – Saturday, March 7, 6-8pm. Awards announced at 7:30 pm.
• Exhibition open to the public March 9 – 26, 2025
• Gallery Open Mondays – Thursdays, 9 AM – 1 PM and Sundays, March 15 and March 22, 12 PM – 2 PM.

• Exhibit sponsored by The Frame Center, Hanover, MA and Image Resolutions, Norwell, MA.

• Artwork pickup Friday, March 27 (5-7pm) and Saturday, March 28 (10am-12pm).

Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony Saturday, March 7, 6-8pm. Awards announced at 7:30 pm.
